Also worth noting, the new album is on Rdio for free. All songs and everything.

I was lucky enough to see them in Boston back in '08. Smaller venue, no seats. I got there before the doors opened, maybe 20th person or so in line. Once inside I strategically positioned myself at the edge of the stage and never moved. I was so close I could read the setlist that was taped to the stage, which meant I noticed they decided to do three extra songs that weren't supposed to be part of the set (which I thought was awesome, they basically went "you know what, we're not ready to leave yet, LET'S DO MORE!"), even got to shake Chris' hand at the end. Awesome day!

Also, Back Porch is one of my favorite songs purely for the ever-changing-depending-on-location story in the middle.

I've seen them in Minneapolis and DC, both relatively small clubs (the best venues). Keep missing the 90's music festival at Merriweather where they're regulars, but I'll catch them again I'm sure. The DC show was great, they were ending their tour run with an Irish band, so they lowered a stonehenge made of Lucky Charms boxes during their opening set. In revenge, they dumped the bags of cereal on PUSA during their set, little marshmallows flying every time Jason hit the snare :)

I made my own basitar and guitbass. I'm usually playing my 4-string, but they're darned fun instruments to play. It does make me a bit sad realizing they rock harder on 5 strings than my band does on 10... :)

The quality and range he can get out of Jude two strings is ridiculous

It's pretty genius, actually. He has his amp tuned perfectly so that single notes have just a touch of warmth, then when he plays both strings (the two instruments are tuned such that playing all strings on a single fret is a power chord) the extra volume gets a nice distortion. It took me years to realize it wasn't a bass, the two are tuned to the same notes. It's all in the amps and what frequencies they emphasize.
